While we like to think that our web site is the best way to order directly from Heinemann-Raintree Library, there are a lot of our customers who need (or prefer) to fill out an offline order form. It's been said that we have "the best order form in the business" (and who are we to argue?), but we wanted to take it further and make it even better:
Credit Card/ Purchase Order Info: While this might seem like a no-brainer at first, we had not included this out of concerns for your security and privacy. But we've had so many requests to add this from customers who want to fax their orders and be done, we just had to make room.
In-Form Help: While using the Excel format enables us to provide lots of handy features beyond a standard fill-in-the-blank form, not everyone is very familiar or comfortable working with it. So rather than posting information just on our web site, we've incorporated Help features and an FAQ-Tips section right into the form!
Library Processing Specifications: For our repeat customers, there's a simple box to indicate to Customer Service that your Library Processing Specs are already on file and need to be applied to the order. For our new customers, the Specs pages are now built right into the form (rather than separately) for your convenience! But remember, the fastest and easiest way to update or set up your Library Processing Specifications is to do it right here on the web site from your account. Then all direct orders can use those same specs, regardless of whether you order by phone, fax, mail or web!
Updated Programming for Creating Emailable Order: We've improved the way the "Create Emailable Order" button can run a macro that will take your information from the really large order form and export just what you need to a brand new, much smaller Excel file. Perfect for saving copies and emailing to Customer Service (or for approvals) without worrying about trying to send or receive extremely large attachments. Plus we've worked it out so that both form formats should print cleanly and clearly from any printer, computer or operating system!
WEB SITE MIGRATION (Summer 2009)
This past summer, we moved our web site to a new location and platform. For those of you visiting us for the first time since then, here's a rundown on the stuff that's new, different, and/or improved with the new system:
Wider Screen: The improvement of computers, monitors, and web browsers over the past few years has enabled us to make the web site pages wider so that you have to do less page-scrolling. We've retained the general layouts on most pages to try to prevent confusing anyone, but you'll find that information has a little more room to breathe and makes it easier to read and hone in on the information you're looking for!
New Bookbag/Shopping Cart Processes: Don't worry! We've made every effort to migrate your Saved Bookbags from the old system to the new one. The information will be there, but it may look a bit different on the screen. We've upgraded the Saved Bookbag page to make it even easier to manage all of your Bookbags. You can create new Bookbags with a custom name and description (new), rename existing bookbags (and therefore add descriptions to your old ones), and even merge existing Bookbags together into a new one with a just a few clicks of your mouse!
Order History Online: While we've programmed the previous site to automatically save your Bookbag when you checkout, the new site will keep your Saved Bookbags and Online Orders separate, reviewable, and manageable. Once you've placed an online order, you can view the details any time you want through the My Account page.
New Library Processing Screens: This is an upgraded area for us and (soon) the other Coughlan Company web sites. Previously, your Library Processing options were listed on one very long page which some of our users found difficult to read. And though we saved your Processing Specs for you online, it wasn't always easy to get those same specs applied to other offline orders. We've migrated your old specs (if you had any saved) to the new system, which is saved to our new Specs On File system...available for use with any direct order no matter how you place it! Online, phone, fax or mail order...your Library Specs are saved in the Customer Service system for our representatives to easily access and apply to your order. AND you can now save as many versions of Library Specifications that you want!
New My Account section: My Account tools have been updated to give you a central location from which to manage all aspects of your account: Password, Personal Info, Billing Address, Multiple Shipping Addresses, Library Processing Specifications. Just log in to start using them right away!
Improved Searching: Our QuickSearch (top left of every page) has been expanded to automatically search for keywords based on what you enter, beyond just ISBN, Product Name, and Description. Plus you can fine tune your search with even more precision than ever before with our upgraded Advanced Search and Leveling Search tools! You can also sort your results by a number of methods (Series, Title, ISBN, Price, Level). Print your search results to a new page where you can select specific additional information to print. The newest twist we think you'll really like is that can get a quick look at the book covers in the results list by hovering over each title name. You're bound to find more books of interest than ever before!
New Correlations Engine: Where we previously used EdGate to provide correlation data and tools, we've taken advantage of Coughlan's existing relationship with Academic Benchmarks to take over those duties. Now everything is stored right on our local servers (instead of fed through a portal from the provider), so the correlation tools are faster, friendlier, and easier to use. Plus we've snuck in a few little things like pre-selecting your state when you've signed into your account. This is one area, however, that will look and work a bit differently than the old method...but we think you'll like it better!
Accelerated Reader® is Easier: While we have always provided Accelerated Reader® information on our products (Quiz Number, ATOS Level, ATOS Points) both online and in our catalogs, we wanted to make that process even easier for you online. If you add items to your Bookbag directly from search results, you'll know immediately whether or not a Accelerated Reader® Quiz is available for that title.
New Rep Finder: Previously, you could find your local Sales Representative by entering your State. This worked well for most States since our dedicated reps cover some pretty wide territories for you! But for larger states that are serviced by multiple sales reps, it wasn't always clear which rep on the list you should contact. Our new Rep Finder system enables you to enter your Zip Code to quickly identify precisely the right person to call for your local needs!
Did anything go away with the new site? Alas, all good things must pass....so there are, in fact, a few features that we've decided to remove during this migration process because they simply weren't used enough. It's a small list though: Ask-A-Librarian (you can still contact our local Staff Librarian...just use the Contact Form), some New York City applications (that they stopped requiring), and our Reviews no longer provide an 'Excerpt' (though full product reviews are still available).
